The Rio Vista property known as "Darlington - the Country Estate of George Crocker" is recognized as one of the most architecturally outstanding early-20th Century estate homes in America. This historic mansion was built between 1902 and 1907 as the country residence of George Crocker, the son of one of America's great railroad pioneers. The mansion is listed on the United States National Register of Historic Buildings.

Rio Vista restored the mansion over a period of four years, upgrading the HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems without disturbing the fine architectural details and finishes of the original design. The restoration involved development challenges such as the application of original building techniques and craftsmanship, plasterworks, special carvings and restoration of original fine wood floors, pegs and paneling.

The architect for the mansion was James Brite of the renowned firm of McKim, Mead and White. Brite and his partner, Henry Bacon, later prospered with notable works including the original Madison Square Garden, the Public Library in Jersey City, American University in Washington, DC and the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. The interior woodworking of the mansion is by John H. Elliott, a famed master cabinetmaker and carver in Philadelphia from the 1880's to 1930's. The chandeliers and murals in the mansion are by Tiffany Studios. The mansion is designed after Bramshill House in the United Kingdom which was built in 1612 for Prince Henry, the son of King James I.

The fine architecture and unique features of the mansion have received critical acclaim. Darlington is located within 30 minutes from New York City and international airports. This property was offered for sale and sold as a residence for the first time since 1910. More information on this project can be found at the url below:
